I'm not sure of the exact location for my problem should be, so I'll post here.
    The problems started around Thursday.
My family computer started getting very slowish, and had to be restarted two times before it worked better.

Well come today and not its crashed. I was trying to add a driver for a Motoral V3 cellphone, to add ring tones to it. I had a couple on, and went through some minor mistakes, and ended up having to restart the computer.

When it came back on it worked alright for a little, and then all of a sudden my task bar disapered. So I looked up my processes, and explorer wasn't on. I did a restart through task manager, and it went very slow. I ended up just powering it off, it seemed to stop doing anything.

Well I tried to turn it back on and no picture came onto the screen. (The cords were not touched the whole time.) So after trying a couple more times it started up. I logged in, and less then a minute later explorer just disapered.
I tired to restart, and it was slow but managed to make it. I tried a couple times, and got back on then again.

This time my desktop was covered by some white background, saying I had some virus problem or worm or something..I forget, and to click some link to fix it. I ran into this problem before, and ignored it trying to see if I could move one file on my thumbdrive quick before explorer died. I had no luck so turned it off.

Then I stuck in my Linux Ubuntu 7.10 CD, to access the harddrive. Well it booted up find, but wont mount my hardrive or my thumbdrive. I'm guessing (I think.) I crapped up on some driver somewhere.

I have no Windows XP CD, in fact the version on I think is illegal. It wasn't my fault though. We had problems before, and a computer repair man did a reinstall of Windows, and I think he used a pirated key. So not sure what to do or where to start fixing things. I'm not sure how to backup sense I cant get a hold of my hardrive through linux to back up on a external drive.

So really any help would be appreciated....
Sorry for my spelling/grammar It's late, and I'm frustrated.
Once again I hope this is the right place to post this problem, if not sorry! :(

Did you try booting in to safemode ? perhaps a system restore ??
Not sure why Ubuntu cant mount the disk.. could be a corrupted FAT or a disk failure(unlikely).

First off, to help us better help you, please organize your paragraphs. I know this is a forum, but you wrote way too much to just be in one giant jumble.

Now to actually try to solve your problem.

Did you download official drivers or did you download 3rd part drivers to put ringtones on your Razr? You sure you downloaded a driver and not a program of some sort?

Seeing a white background asking you to click a link is a sure sign of spyware or trojan. I suspect that you downloaded some program that you thought would allow you to put ring tones on your phone and when you installed it, it infected your system with spyware or a trojan.

Can you go back into Windows to run a spyware or virus scan?

I'm sorry currectly I'm running off a crappy computer that can only run netscape, so I just spilt it up into little groups. I may try to edit it a little more later.

The offical program costs some money so I ran a program called...arg I can't remember..maybe it was something like P2K, or something? It came with some drivers to install to connect to the phone, and at least from what I could tell at the time it looked real enough. In all honesty though I was low on time, and being impacient...
The drivers seemed to be all right though...

Yes, I'm pretty famirar with attacks in that sort of form so I did not click it I just simply ignorereed it trying to fix a bigger problem before I tried fixing that.

Windows wont work for more then a couple minutes, then exploerer dies and it seems to get really slugish.
My currect guess (whatever its worth) is that I may have already gotten a virus/trojan before. Then when I started installing drivers it noticed this, and took advange of me editing system files to do something nasty.
    o I'm also running Nod32 Anti-Virus...
