    Windows memory limits

    Am I correct in understanding that WinXP and Vista 32 will only use up to a limit of 3 GB RAM, and anything beyond that just sits idly in the machine? Also, I understand that XP64 and Vista 64 will correctly use 4GB.

    Yes under 32bit Windows will only detect between 2.8-3.2Gb or ram. It depends on the chip set and graphics card. Rest is idle and cant be addressed or used by anything.

    64bit will detect 4GB and more.
