    Windows product key

    Hello Friends,

    I am having a DELL Inspiron 1520 laptop. Windows product key supplied by DELL was "product key removed by moderator". This is related to Vsta.

    I have reinstalled operating system for a quite a few times using Dell's supplied window CD.

    Now, I observe that my windows product id has changed to 89572-OEM-7332166-00096.

    How is this possible ?

    I don't think the key and the product ID are the same thing. If I remember correctly the ID is derived from the key.

    The product ID and the product key are two different numbers.

    Thats simple
    You use your 25 digit product key to install the o/s ,
    That # is not visible , and not related to the 20 digit oem number that you see

    And if you loose the 25 digit product key it is still yours and you can find free software that will list it for you or call Microsoft for help.
