    ok, i have a very old computer (bout 7 Years) that i just reformated to give to my brother, when i did however, it erased the entire hard drive (windows and all) and now the only thing that will boot is the bios. can anyone tell me how to get windows back on my computer (i only have 98 upgrade, not the full install) i tihnk i will need the full disk of win 98, but i think i can get my hands on a copy.

    yeah, you'd need a full version copy of Win 98 and not just an upgrade. A 7-year old computer -- I'm impressed it's still alive [ :)]

    well what can i say, its a compaq. i fixed it anyway, turns out i had one of those win 95 restore disks laying around and lucky me, the milion year old bios recognised the cd rom. now my brother has a computer (as useless as it might be)

    Check the auction websites. Anything for sale will be so cheap you will spend more on postage. I was offered a disk of MS 2000 for 20 USD.

    Or find a local school, they can never afford new software and will have *really* old disks ;-7
