    Hi there.

I am running Windows 8. Recently I noticed that windows was trying to install 2-4 updates on every restart - this made me check the update history, where I found that 4 updates are constantly failing to install. These updates are:
    KB2753842
    KB2779768
    KB2779030
    and KB2780541

In addition, I noticed that my processor is CONSTANTLY being used at 100% by "Services and Controller app" and "System" (this I can see in the task manager).

I need a quick fix to lower the processor usage, as my computer's fan running full blast makes the battery miserable. In addition, it would be nice to find a fix to the updates (but worst case I can simply disable them from updating..)
    Thanks!

    Matt

Try downloading them from Microsoft's site via your web browser if you can, and then install them manually. It could be that your OS is corrupt, so the installer isn't working properly.

If downloading them via your browser and installing them from there doesn't work, consider a restore point. One way you can check to see if your OS is corrupt is to log in to another account and try the updates - or better yet, do a clean reboot (safe mode with networking + all non-Microsoft services disabled + all start up entries disabled).

So I did just what you said - download updates separately and try install in safe mode. Unfortunately they all failed.

Do you have any restore points (not to be confused with system recovery)? You can try reverting back to the restore point just before the updates, and then try them again.

You can also uninstall updates, but that's a lot more tedious.
