Recently I reformated XP, and I am now having some trouble getting updates. The yellow sheild in the right hand corner of the screen is lit up for a new update to be installed. I install it and less than 2 minutes later the same update appears for installation. Also I am not able to dowload WMP11 because I do not have the "Supported OS" ??? Does this have anything to do with it? Any help?

Is your Windows Genuine? If yes, go to Windows Update and install manually the updates

There was a recent update in which was bugged.
I forgot the name of the update. But what happens was that when the update was installed, it will reappear shortly after and request for the install once again.

It does this continuously and the only solution was to open the Update Menu to download the update and check Don't Ask for This Update again.

I found the name of the update.
Is the update that's giving u trouble, KB923980?
I had a problem with that where it would consistantly request me to install even after several installations.

My solution for this was when it did ask for the install, I simply Uncheck that update and click on close.
Then Windows XP will present an option to not be bothered about that update again.

Then that's how it works for me.

You'll need to click the + - button to expand the info. After the little paragraph about what the update is, there should be a never show me this update again. Remember this is with the IE way, not the yellow shield way.

Do you get this error when going through Windows Update/Microsoft Update? If so, try to go to MS.com and look for the download. Make sure you get the x86 for 32 bit Windows and x64 for 64 bit Windows.

I get it when going through windows Media player 11 setup. I am using the x86 download. Again the message says unsupported OS and to dowload windows xp media center rollup 2. I know I have that since its right on the dell Cd and ive checked windows update. Nothing new besides that one that just doesnt go away.
