Hey guys, I just recently reinstalled Windows 7 back onto my laptop. After I installed all my necessary drivers (gpu, usb 3.0 etc...) i enabled windows update but for some reason I can't get a couple updates to install. I don't have the service pack installed yet and i cant procede untill i install those 3 updates. Is there some specific way I should install the updates? This sounds like a stupid question, but yes... i need some help

    Thanks in advance,
    Toledano

Like you installed 100 updates and maybe 5 or 6 failed? That has happened to me a lot after I do a clean install. I just install all at once, and after it restarts, do the ones that failed. If more fail just repeat the process.

I would try installing them one at a time if that doesn't work.

Yup, that. This isnt the first time i have installed windows and i always select all the updates and install them. This is just the first time that ive been stuck on 3 updates. They downloaded fine, but will not install. Guess I have to re-install windows.

I've seen this happen before in XP, although I haven't had any issue like this since. What are the three updates? Are they related in any way?

If you do decide to reinstall, you might want to try using an install disk with SP1 already included.

or you could download windows 7 with sp1, less patches to install overall.

This just follow the links provided in the other threads. It's a lot less hassle to install updates if you already have SP1.

I love you guys (no homo)
I had no idea you could install W7 with the service pack, but I was too hasty and reinstalled just W7 with no service pack. If this fails (hope it doesn't) ill try out what you guys have recommended.

    Thanks,
    Toledano

Ok, im back with a recap of what happened. I reinstalled without the SP1 (will do it with in the future) and the updates worked just fine. Really wierd though. Once again, thanks for the help guys/gals, greatly appreciated.
