just wanted to know if I should download this. It makes me have to press the 'I agree' button so Im a bit hesistant. What does it do, will it remove once it encounters something and if I have Kaspersky anti-virus will I need it? or just any opinions you guys got.

    thanks

I always run it... never found anything but never caused any problems either. It just looks for common viruses/worms and removes them if it finds any. I believe it sends stats to Microsoft so they can track what percentage of the computers were infected with which virus and what OS they were running, etc.

There have also been some reports of problems with one of the other updates if you run ZoneAlarm and IE on XP.

I unchecked the MRT update this go 'round and skipped it for now. Perhaps later...

I went ahead and installed it without issues. Seems the ZA issues were only with XP, not Vista, and have been corrected anyway for those on XP.

I always install it and have never had a problem. I did some reading and the software malicious removal tool also checks for OS bypass cracks as well. ;)
