I recently installed windowsblinds on my XPS M1210. In days afterwards I would shut my laptop, expecting it to go into standby mode like always. However it appears that windowsblinds has issues with the power savings in XP ( I am using MCE 2005 I think). The laptop would not stand by when the lid was closed, and sometimes would not stand by when I pressed the standby shortcut on the keyboard and told it to stand by though windows. This left my laptop to cook itself in my backpack (thankfully no harm was done), and left its battery drained. Disabling/uninstalling windowsblinds seems to have solved the problem. I am just posting to warn other M1210 (and probably other) users who have are experience/will experience this problem since I did not see this solution elsewhere.

    Cheers!

Windowblinds is the biggest joke out there it is all but malware. It causes your system to slow down to 50% of original state and cannot even regain performance with system restore. It also causes issues like you pointed out aswell. The way I solved all the issues was to do a clean install of windows. It will clear any trace of the stardock junk and speeds your system up.

Windowblinds is not malware. I've used it on XP for years and never had any performance problems whatsoever. Same with Stardock's other desktop proggies.

People who think it's malware probably downloaded it off a torrent, and obviously, being a fairly popular program it is, it's likely filled with malware.

I've had so many problems with those programs...I stopped trying. The first time around I thought it was a fluke, and SD refunded me since a month of troubleshooting did not solve the issue.

The 2nd time around, I had to file a PayPal complaint against them since they're tech service never responded. Never again will I buy anything from them.

And my issues were on two separate PCs.

Yes, it does slow down some computers...its pretty random who has a positive and negative experience. But their tech service is completely idiotic and you're never going to get it fixed IMHO.
