    I have this following PC
MY CPU Is Core 2 DUO QX6600
    MOBO: ASUS P5WDH
    MEMORY: CORSAIR dominator 2GB PC6400
    HARDDRIVE: Western Digital Raptop 75GB
    CPU COOLING: Zalman 9700
    VGA: Gforce 7950

and i tried to add 4GB (total) ram but it only read 3 some GB

but it clearly said i can use up to 4GB

is it because my my memory type or any other hardware that i have is causing this?

    thank you

You'll need the 64-bit versions of XP or Vista.

32bit OS's support 2^32 bytes (or 4GB of memory max). Even if you put 4GB of RAM in, you can't use it all because the system has to use some of that 2^32 bytes of addresses for system hardware. You'll only get about 3.25-3.5GB of RAM available.
