Ok so I want to run some old DOS games, and DOSBox is a pain in the to run. Very user unfriendly.

Is there a way I could make a partition and install Windows 98 on my notebook just for the odd game or two? Would all the drivers work?

    If not, what about XP?

I'm guessing this is for your DM3z, I've had a look around, and cannot find anything. Why don't you just run it in MS Virtual PC 2007?

I tried VMWare Workstation 7.0 and games were slow, even with VMTools... is VPC faster?

I believe so, I used it for a little bit, but never had a chance to really run it through it's paces. Can't hurt trying it though.

Thanks for the help so far guys. Good rep points have been handed out.

I have actually decided that I want to install Windows XP 32 bit instead on a separate partition.

I just partitioned a 16 GB NTFS partition, what do I do now?

Now just install XP on that partition, when you get into the XP install to select partitions, install on the one you made. There may be more to it, but I'm not really farmiliar with Dual Boot... You are dual booting, right?

When I put in the CD, it has the "Install XP" box unclickable... do I boot off CD or something?

Yes, it has that because you already have a version of Windows which is higher of that. You will need to boot off the CD.

if you insist on going multi-boot, you are going to have to become an expert with a good multi-boot manager including knowing how to recover from a corrupted boot partition. Yes, this means that you are mucking around with the boot capablilities of your machine including the primary OS.

Using a VM product doesn't screw with the basic booting capabilities of your machine. At All.
