Dear all,
I have been using my dell i6000 for one week now and I got my first problem:
When I want to run Office documents (Word and Excel) the initial window for the program pops up, the virus scan starts but everything gets frozen. I checked the Task manager and apparently Excel or Word do not use CPU or excessive memory. If I switch off the wireless device or disable the connection to the university's wireless network everything works fine.
I think this is probably a software problem since everything worked fine 24 hours ago and I do not experience this problems with other software like Adobe Acrobat.
Oh, by the way when I run the virus scan things slow down a lot. Is it something I shoudl expect even with P-M 2GHz and 1GB RAM?
Thanks and have a nice weekend.![]()

UPDATE: Norton tells me that the system is virus, etc. free.

Any Help, Plz?

OK, I used system restore and everything seems fine now.
XP rocks! -
I've never actually used system restore, but do they include a date stamp? if they do, you could narrow down what happened by looking at what you installed since then.
-
Yeah system restore has date stamps, i.e. you can return to any previous day the system has been saved.
Good idea, i'll check that. Thnx, BigV! -
you are very lucky that system restore did anything because it dosnt fix many problems.
in other words it is rubbish and system restore shouldnt realy have the name system restore.
