I downloaded Windows Live Messenger 2011, and I hate it so far.
I like to keep up with tha latest versions of software, but I dislike how it forces you to use the "social networking" stuff...
I use WLM to chat with people in my contact list, and thats it. I don't want to update my "status" and use all the Facebook-like features.
For instance, if I write a personal message (the one that appears next to your nick), it will stick there until I write a new one, and it will remain in a history (something like a Facebook wall). I would like to be able to delete my personal message and leave it blank sometimes.
Also, it starts showing my real name instead of my nickname, and I dot know it people who chat with me are seeing my nick or my real name. I haven't found where to change my nick, yet...
I will most probaly go back to 2009...
any thoughts?

Live with it..
kthxbye -
I hate it in the beggining myself but in the process I got used to it.I can't say I like it though.I feel as someone is forcing stuff that I don't want.

people will see the name in your profile
if you want them to see another name you need to change the name in your profile -
It doesn't force you to use "social networking". Just click on "compact view" and you'll se the old interface... and don't forget to disable facebook from settings

And the "sticking status" - it has been around for a while, you can delete it on the Live Webpage - entry for entry, shouldn't be a problem if you don't publish too much. -
Messenger 2011 is a mess, but compared to the previous one it's a little easier to look at. Really need apatch to get rid of the ad area and search area. The "full view" is enormous, what were they thinking with that, seriously... Oh the chat has a "video message" option now which I tried out yesterday. A convenient way to pre-record a video from webcam and shoot it off, and it works to Yahoo users. Messenger takes far too long to load initially, and the login screen is also another large window.
The Mail client is meh.. I like the ribbon, or rather the ability to hide it and just put common stuff in the top area. Gmail IMAP on it is a little faster, which I like, and it recognizes the Gmail spam folder as a junk mail folder. One funny glitch is my Hotmail accounts, the Sent Mail folder keeps showing the sender (me) as an "Unknown Sender." :sigh: Microsoft.
I have the Photo Gallery installed too. Ribbonized, otherwise not too much different than the previous version. -
I'm getting used to it, I guess...
I just discovered the tabbed chat thing, and that is very good.
but I still think there should be a "simple mode", where everything that is not chat-related is disabled... -

And I've replaced my real name for my nickname, since I use my hotmail account only for messenger and not mailing. -

the world is OK again

Do any of you guys have problems with WLM2011 freezing up during chats? (keyboard lags and screen freezes?) also my friends sometime wont get messages sent.

everythign seem great i love the hardware acceleration it makes it much smoother
but the fact that the dans block option is gonne that's really ungreat -
I really dislike the new WLM... I was a huge fan of it until version 8. After that it seemed too bloated. I was really looking for something simple. Also, some contacts had AIM, Google, etc. Anyway, I went to this:
Easy, simple, and have all my contacts from all other networks in it seamlessly.
(Ignore the other stats, that's my Rainmeter) -
