Hello Everyone,.....Please HELP if you can.

    Devices:
    Gateway M-1625 Laptop
    Vista Home Premium 32
Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard & Mouse

    Cause of Problem:
I powered-up my laptop unaware that my note pad was depressing the Windows, Alt, and Space Bar keys simultaneously on my wireless keyboard. Upon hearing continues beeps,...I immediately removed the note pad and shut down the computer by depressing the start-button.

After waiting 5 minutes,...I restarted the laptop and was unable to boot-up OS and received the following message.

Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup

I pressed F1 to resume.....and received the following message.

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
    To fix the problem:

    1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer
    2. Choose your language setting, and then click "Next."
    3. Click "Repair you computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer
    for assistance.

    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc000000e
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

I conducted all three above steps as instructed and was unable to fix the problem.

    Questions???
Did this situation cause DAMAGE to any of the hardware within the Laptop??

    Please HELP!!
Any assistance to help guide me through the recovering process will be most appreciated. Thank You!!!

    Sincerely, Jason

Only way to fix it is to insert a Vista disc and choose the repair option.
I've had the same happen in a few instances and the above corrected the problem.

You will be repairing the MBR, here is a link with directions:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

One instance though, the problem was the hard drive had a bad sector... shouldn't be the case here with you though....
