Is there something I can do to keep a PC from timing out after activity? Vibrating mousepad or some other device to do this?

I am even open to software but I am not allowed to install programs, if I am not an administrator.

Are you referring to when it displays the screensaver then (when the mouse is moved or keyboard tapped) it displays the "Windows Security" screen locked box?

If so, just go into display properties, click the "screen saver" tab and uncheck the box labeled "On Resume, Password Protect"

You can run certain programmes off USB drives.

    Examples I know:
    QIP (ICQ caht client)
CCleaner (copy .exe over or instal on USB drive, some functions won't work though, but key ones do)

    So:
Have someone write a little programme that runs of a USB drive and keeps the computer thinkingyour using it.

You should be able to configure the power settings so that it never times out. Of course, you'll need to be a bit more specific about what you actually mean before anyone here can tell you exactly how to get to the particular control(s) you need.
