None of them worked for me. I wonder what is going on.

Hi.
FILE NOT FOUND, NOT THE USUAL DENIED.
Regards
John. -
Only the boot.wim link seems to still be up. Can you please fix the links!! Thanks
-
It will be up to MS to fix the links, unfortunately. Or if someone found another link from MS.
(I assume MS removed or moved the files from their server)
-
Would it be possible for someone who successfully downloaded the files to host the files or the iso somewhere? I tried multiple times, but I never got them to download successfully
-
weird, these worked a few days ago.
-
We can't do that because that would be a legal violation on NBR's part. These links can only stay up as long as they are hosted by MS.
-
Oh yeah. I forgot. Crap. I guess I was upset when I made my request because I never could get a working download. Sorry. Disregard earlier request.
-
yeah, digital river has a distribution license from microsoft, so the files are legal when downloaded from digital river
-
I can only get 64 bit boot file to download. I hope you can do some magic to help us, v3loc1ty2.0
!
-
ok i'm getting really fustrated over this. I first tired the download links, and only one of the works. Then I went to the marketplace link shown earlier in the forum to just buy the dvd for $15 but when I enter my product key there, the next screen says that an error has occured and there is nothing more I can do. And getting through to MS on the phone is near impossible.
I JUST WANT A CLEAN INSTALL OF VISTA! IS THAT SO HARD!!??
...help. -
I believe the links go down every few days or so because it has reached its daily bandwidth limit. The file sizes are massive.
Yes it can be that hard. Took me like 2 months to get a hold of a vista install disc. It should be alot easier to obtain one now -
It also took me forever to obtain a copy. I came here and downloaded the links, but they never worked for me. Finally, someone purchased a copy for me after months of trying to get my hands on one and I was able to install.

Stupid Q - Will my OEM Key Work on this? i have read the thread and I am unsure if you can or not.

And If I have a Vista 32 bit sys on my system, Can I use the 64 bit version?
-
yes your 32bit key will work on 64, you jsut need to get a hold of a 64bit install disc. Also you can only have one of them active. You cant have both.
-
I think you need to use the product key on the bottom of your computer when purchasing the disks from Microsoft.
-
Hmm.. I've been seeing different info in regards to OEM Vista. I'm told they use different keys for 32-bit and 64-bit. Only the retail Vista could use the same key for both.
-
No, you can use your Dell oem 32 bit number at the bottom of the laptop to activate a 64 bit copy of the same type of Vista, ie. you can't activate an 64 bit Ultimate if you have a 32 bit Premium. You cannot get a disc from Microsoft if you have an oem number, that requires a retail version. Also, you can't get a disc from M$ if you don't live in the US.

Which ones will i need to make a 64 bit version on a 32 bit system?
EDIT: Got it worked out - found copies i downloaded a week ago - thanks anyway! -

@v3loc1ty
Are the links up again? -
Nope
i haven't found a solution yet -
If this is a legal download site , why are we constantly having to fix the links, does somebody does not want us to download these or what!
-
It is legal.
-
these worked last week. real fast too. i wish i would of downloaded the 64bit files also.
-
Does anyone know of something like this for XP? I have the key already but I don't have the DVD/CD to install it with. -_-
Tim -
Doubtful..I remember something about trial versions but can't find anything..
-
If you have access to a computer that already has XP installed, you can try this:
http://ask-leo.com/i_dont_have_an_installation_cd_for_windows_xp_what_if_i_need_one.html -
hmm... still no fix
idk what to do -
When was the last time the links worked?
-
a week or more ago!
-
I sent them an email and asked about it.
-
Yeah, it was far longer. I would say that we're approaching something close to a month now.
-
Links went down 10 days ago
-
You would know better than I would. However, it did seem like it was more than 10 days ago. I guess I was wrong. Sorry about that.
-
oK this is weird, the link for boot.wim x64 works..but only this one works..
EDIT: Not anymore...what was that anyway?
EDIT2: I guess they are testing something..worked again but disconnected after minute..
EDIT3: It seems that the server disconnects when boot.wim download reach 100mb..and there is no 'resume', the download is reported as 'finished'(boot.wim x64 is 130.3mb right?) -
i really wish these worked again, i want to download the 64bit files
-
A few hours ago, the 32 bit boot.wim file was working, but now its not
sadly, ive still got no fix -
both boot.wim files are working right now.
-
They are all down at the moment. What a pain.
Lucky i snapped these up quite early. I was even able to make a Vista x64 SP1 integrated. -
So how would I go about contacting Microsoft to try to get a copy of Vista sent to me so I can use my key I have?
Perhaps a phone number? -
If you have an OEM license to Vista, MS won't help you. They only support retail versions. If you can't download it, you'll have to find someone you can borrow it from.
-
I'm trying to do a clean install on my new Thinkpad, so if anyone knows of any other way to get a Vista disk without re-buying a license I'd really appreciate it.
-
If you have a retail license, you can buy reinstall (called backup by MS) disks from Microsoft: http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/content.aspx?ctId=444
If not, then contact Lenovo for reinstall disks (I don't know if they provide any but you can try). -
From what I've read, I think Lenovo has completely ceased the practice of sending out disks. This could, of course, be false information though. I don't even remember where I read it. It could have been in the Lenovo section of the forum.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

I've heard that too, but I can't attest to its validity. A quick call should clear it up.
-
Yeah, it's true that Lenovo won't send out clean install disks. They want everyone to keep the bloatware.
-
Hey guys,
First of all - great forum you have here - incredibly detailed, and mature for the most part.
I was wondering if anyone knows of any alternatives to these links - I have a brand new thinkpad T61 that I am dying to clean the crap off and upgrade to 64-bit Vista.
It seems I won't get any love from Microsoft or Lenovo, as I have an OEM copy of Vista. I'm currently getting a retail (apparently non cracked) version of it via torrent and am hoping it's legit to use for a clean install.
Anyone have any ideas? Anyone in Sydney that might be willing to post a copy for a fee? Flipfire, that integrated SP1 disc sounds very appealing
Any ideas appreciated.
Cheers. -
The only place to *Legally* download Vista is from Microsoft themselves or from another source which has permission from Microsoft to distribute the files.
Though the version you are getting via torrent may work, its illegal to do so... And if you check the Forum rules you will see: posting links to pirated software or asking how to obtain pirated software is not permitted.
Working Legal Vista Download Links (Nice Try, but you still need a key!)
