I just got my new Dell Inspiron e1405 (which is great so far) and have run into a minor snag: Quattro Pro 12 doesn't seem to be able to convert Microsoft Works spreadsheets. When I try opening the Works files (.xlr), all the info is either blank or with funny symbols.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Perhaps OpenOffice though I have no idea if it will work.

Thanks, but with my current dial-up connection that would take hours (days?!) to download.

    Any other ideas?

Go to a friend's house or work with broadband.

Save the works spreadsheet as a .CSV file in Works (comma separated value) and then open in Quatro Pro (or other way around depending on which you are going from).

OK, Openoffice seems to work--I downloaded it at a local coffeeshop. However, I'm not sure if I can open the documents in Open Office and then save them to Quattro Pro?

I will also try your method, Arla, thanks.

After you open it with OpenOffice, you can save it .xls format which I am assuming Quattro can open.
