I need a cheap tablet for college and I was looking at the tc4200.
Here are the specs I know
    Intel Pentium M Processor, 1.86GHz @ 1876MHz
    512MB RAM

Not sure what on board graphics it has.

If not, would it run Office 2003 just fine?

I ask because I can pay an extra $100 for the dual core tc4400, not sure if it's worth it.

    I think it should.

I used to run Office 2007 on a 1,6 GHz Pentium M (Centrio) with first 512 later 768 then 1GB of RAM and XP.

    Graphics was some "Intel Stuff".

Office 2007 is more streamlined than the older versions.

I can tell you though, that on a modern laptop Office 2010 is better than 2007 :)

    Edit:
The Dual core would be very benefitial for Vista - but Vista nees more RAM.

Maybe you should ask under "What notebook should I buy" and get a better offer?

office should work well. but for yourself, general usage, maybe a dual core would still be worth it.

but much more important: get more ram. 1gb at least, 2gb better (it should be very cheap, and gain you much more performance)

Yep, almost the exact same system specs, although I ran office 07 for a week and a half on a ancient HP desktop with a Pentium 3 and 256 mb of ram

    No issues whatsoever. :)

It'll run, but it won't fly. If you spend a bit of money on a RAM upgrade, then you'll solve most performance problems.

the only thing you might notice is when you manipulate images in office, it'll be slightly sluggish, otherwise office 2007 should work just fine.

at least thats what my experience was with my old acer sempron laptop
