What about an iPod? If I plugged it into my laptop via USB, will Vista recognize it for ReadyBoost purposes?

And is it possible to select that only 2GB of my iPod's 30GB storage by zoned off for RB neeeds?

And if so, can I then use the remaining 28GB as normal (hard disk storage, iTunes updating, etc)?

Last but not least, what if all this were possible, but I suddenly decided I wanted to use the iPod unplugged, for whatever reason, whilst carrying on work on the computer. Will Vista adapt to operating without ReadyBoost there and then?

as mentioned above, i have not been able to block out certain amount for ready.boost - vista gives u the option of how much would be used for ready.boost, but within vista u (I) would not be able to access the other space amount

    YES

    cheers ...

Your 30gb Ipod is a harddrive. Readyboost is designed to work with flash memory because it is faster than a harddrive. I would bet that the drive in your Ipod is even slower than the one on your laptop, so even if it would work, it wouldn't offer any benefit.

Can you also use SD cards as ReadyBoost if you're laptop comes with 5-in-1 card reader? I remember reading from somewhere that it does support SD cards, but not if you put your SD card in a card reader that hooks into USB.
