i wouldn't mind taking the job as CEO.

I would only take the job if it meant getting the opportunity to leak the full source code.
-
how good you are at operating system programming?
there something i want to ask if you really know about it...
cause you stated if you can get the full source code... cause it will be pointless if you don't know how to use it... but i ask this because i need your help... no other reason... -

Since I don't mind hijacking my own thread...
Lysander, is Wine doing better than Crossover (and other alternatives)? -
I take the job, not to promote mac or any free os but the help change the goals of microsoft, no I don't work there
-
Carpe diem, seize the day!
That means yes. -
I cannot justify the money spent when WINE is free. -
-
Sure I would. As would most people who could use the money.

I was a Sr Engineer for Microsoft from 1997 to 1999. Actually, it was for Microsoft Consulting, sort of a sub-group of microsoft. It was interesting.
Last February (17 months ago) I was offered a job up in Redmond to work for them again full time. The position they offered me was exactly $20K more than the job I had at the time. I really considered it, but I ended up going to my boss, telling him, and my current company matched their offer + an additional 3K, so I stayed.
But let me tell you, the interview process at Microsoft, before their offer, was grueling. They give you a schedule, a Name tag/Bus Pass, and you rid around the complex up there on microsoft's own bus service, from building to building, interviewing with different people in the chain.
My interview(s) were 7+ hours long (all day, I think 6 different people interviewed me, plus I got some time for lunch)
The thing that kept me from moving was that I had just had my first child, and didnt want the uncertainty of changing jobs - that and the weather. I'd lived in portland for awhile, and that was bad enough. The constant rain in Redmond would have depressed the heck out of me and my wife. -
Depends on the section, I would rather work in the 360 or the Zune section, but nowhere near the Windows section...too much hassle.

Avoid Microsoft security jobs at all cost!

Yes.
From a career standpoint, they're a very strong company. If it was a position I'm interested in (I've read that they have a very good R+D department), then I'd probably take it. Obviously, there are many other factors (pay, distance, and so on).
I guess this thread is angling at the apparent 'dilemma' of working for a 'hated' or 'unethical' company. Personally, I don't hate Microsoft. Although sometimes their decisions do irk me, they certainly wouldn't put me off a good job opportunity.
Anyway, why not join it and put your effort in improving it? See if you can prevent such bad decisions. A naive and implausible view, maybe, but far more constructive than 'OMFG I HATEZ0RS MICROSOFT CUZ EVERY1 DUZ'.

Y'know, Microsoft ain't the best company to work for, even if they pay good
...
Sure, all software developers at Microsoft get their own room, but they pressure you to overwork ("Ya got your own room, happy yet? Now start coding!") and you have to put up with (yuck) Steve Ballmer
. I hear way too many cases of employees resigning in a few years because they're tired of overworking for the company.
