OK so I have this laptop,Asus X58C, after a little while idling it goes into sleep mode. The power button is lit, the 'Zz' is lit (not flashing) but when I try waking the bugger it won't play. Press any key, power button, nothing happens - just sometimes the screen appears full of green horizontal lineswith a vertical 1" band of blue and red lines on the left edge. Anyone have any ideas on this? I know it's a crappy bit of kit but I should still be able to wake it.

Fresh install today, Win 7 Ultimate 32bit, 1G RAM, Intel Celeron D220.

Hey reb1, I went to the link and tried this:
Fix performance, errors or crashes > Fix Windows system performance problems on slow Windows computers
I think that may have done the trick - I will confirm it with you tomorrow
