This isn't a question about how to hook an XBOX to my laptop, this is a question on how to get the XBOX homescreen on my laptop. I saw someone with a desktop home screen (or something like that) with the same home screen format as an XBOX. Now, I haven't used Windows 8 so maybe that's all it is, but it looked really cool and I would like to know how to do it. I just started attending college as a Computer Science major and I have some background in computers, but there are just some things I have no clue about and I would much appreciate the help. If you have any questions, comments or answers, reply to this thread or e-mail me. Like I said, if it's just Windows 8, then I'm a complete retard who hasn't done his research.
    Thanks for feedback!

If you are referring to stuff like this, this is Windows 8's "Games" app, which is a weird xBox/PC hybrid game store. I don't own an xBox but I assume if you purchase games through here on Win8, they will appear for download on your xBox.

Actually, that's EXACTLY what I was looking for! Is it Windows 8 only? Because I use Windows 7.

It's Microsoft's attempt at streamlining their products (/chants "ONE OF US! ONE OF US!"). I haven't used it or played around with it on another's system, but as tijo said, yes: Windows 8 only.

Some laptops actually do have video-in ports so you can jack you xbox into your laptop screen, but they're quite rare. Only one I can think of off the top my head is the alienware m17x.

The Win8 XboxLive store is just a horrible ripoff of steam that has nothing but glorified flash games imo.

Discount or no discount, do some research to weigh the pros and cons before you install it. You can even give the trial of the RTM version a run before you commit to having it on your laptop: Download Windows 8 RTM Build 9200 Free Trial - The next generation of Windows, a re-imagining of the operating system from the chip to the experience - Softpedia

I think the college student has more to worry about then installing windows 8 they need a O/S to get start and working and last thing they have to do is figure out the metro interface. They have more pressing issues at hand. And as Prostar said they need to do their homework and not just go happy installation heaven.
