time to ask the experts as IT at work cant help (and its not really a work issue)

my hospital work computer is only 1 of 3 computers in our hospital still using XP
all the other 5000+ computers have been updated to Windows 7

my computer is used for a digital xray digitizer that wont work on anything above XP
due to this im still running Internet Explorer 8

problem im having is as every month goes by another forum wont work with IE8
computer next to me has windows 7 and the forums open fine but its another colleagues computer and in use all day.
on one forum all im getting is page not found. on another one it has a banner saying not supported with IE8 and upgrade to post but at least i can read that one but for how long i dont know.

at least NBR is not affected :D

its defo not a restricted site or affected by the secure network.

so any idea of a work around
    thanks
    DJ

I have an old XP computer at work, with no admin privileges (also meaning I can't even update adobe flash), so what I do is install chrome portable from portable apps. It's stand-alone so it extracts and runs from a folder without install. I like this approach because chrome has its own built-in flash plugin, and can display pdf's. When a new version of chrome comes out you just download the new installer again and run to update its files.
