On my brother's pc, when he logs in it says "This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on. Do you want to activate Windows now?" I click yes, and it shows a box saying "Windows XP is already activated. Click OK to exit." And I click OK, and it takes me back to my brother's userlist where he has to enter his pass to logon, and if I put the pass it repeats everything. I don't know how to fix it....or what the problem is....

Reformat? Are you using a bootleg version of XP?
-
I don't know, it's my brother's laptop. I told I'll reformat it with Vista and he said ok, so I guess that solves it.
-
That's weird.
-
Could be a activation glitch.
-
Sounds like he's using a crack/hack of some kind.
-
Yeah, I've never seen that happen...it has to be bootleg or unactivated.
-
Yeah. My friend's pc has that, because his is bootleg. I win.

This happened to me before. I believe some "clean up" program deleted a file or messed up the registry somehow and it kept sending MS for it to be activated. It's like ET phone home! LOL
-
There are two files, and a few registry keys, in XP that if altered can seriously screw up your activation.

They should post the complete next of George Orwell's 1984 everytime they close a thread because "you can't talk about it".

Seriously, hasn't this thread already served its purpose?
