I think I may be switching to XP because I'm getting some weird stuttering when I try to play games on Vista I'm hoping that maybe XP will solve this issue.

I'm thinking about getting XP Home SP2B for System Builders. My question is will XP Home support my hardware or will I have to get Pro. I just don't want to have to pay the extra 40 bucks because as soon as Vista is fixed I'll be going back to it. Next month two great games are coming out that I want to play and I just can't wait for MS.

My system configuration is in my sig. The reason I ask is that I thought I had read once that XP Home can't support dual core processors, though I may have been wrong about this. I would like to be 100% sure it's going to work before I pay for it though.

    Thanks,
    -Taylor

You cant get the System biulders pack you have to buy retail (XPPro $100) unless you biult the system.
You may encounter driver issues as XP was not offered on the 1520.
Read this giude(for the drivers) the same thing will work for the 1520.
To Format your HDD read this.

That's not true. All OEM means is that you won't get support from Microsoft and you can't transfer this copy of Windows to another computer. Home and Pro support the same hardware, so either XP works, or it doesn't.

I don't see what's the big deal about "lying" in that situation. You're not getting support from MS or possibly your manufacturer as that's not the default OS.

ThomasH, if you want to pay more than you have to, more power to you.

Windows XP is no longer sold at retail where I live. I only see Vista Ultimate (upgrade) and Vista Home Basic (upgrade) going for $300 and $150. That's not a lot of value.

A retail full copy of Windows XP has and always will be $200. $100 is only the upgrade, and both are dissapearing. Buy OEM, support from Microsoft will be phased out in the very near future, and you save a lot of money.

I recommend going back to XP if you can. Vista degrades 3D performance by about 20% so the performance improvement should be rather significant. XP is much lighter on system resources so your entire machine will be more responsive.
