    Hey,

    In need of some help...

I'm currently re-installing XP onto one of my older laptops, cleared all hard drive partitions etc, all fine. Start installing XP and its all going fine... until:

    "Fatal Error"

"An erro has been encountered that prevents setup from continuing.

Setup failed to install the product catalogs, This is a fatal error. The setup log files contain more information."

Press ok the view setup log file."

So I click ok to view the "setup log file" and its telling me theres a "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)".

Tryed cleaning the disk as suggested in the text provided and its clean so i don't think thats the problem.

I have also tryed to just boot XP but sinch I cleared all partitions I cant.

Anyone know anyway of fixing this problem?

How can I just boot XP?

Can I continue with installation in anyway?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply Kegobeer,

As instructed in the link you sent me I type "cd\windows\system32\" and i get the responce "The system cannot find the patch specified" So that does'nt work and I know the RAM is fine etc.

    Any other options?

What CD are you using? Please post a pic if you can otherwise just tell us what it says.
