What are the main differences between these two OS's. I am looking at a Dell E1705 but it comes with Windows XP Media Edition. Is it worth to get XP Pro?

MCE supports more multimedia devices than those of Win XP Pro such as TvTuner. If you play with multimedia a lot, it's better to choose MCE over XP Pro. Basically both are almost same.
-
If you plan on using the computer on an NT domain you will NEED Pro. MCE is based on Home (no matter what some people may say) and does not support joining domains. There are a couple other security reasons, but that is the big one.
If that's something you're not worried about, and you enjoy your lights and sounds...go for MCE!
If you're just doing it for looks, just remember that there are many ways you can "spruce" up any OS.
I'd post a screenshot, but I'm too lazy...haha -
Pro will still support any Tuner or just about any other device you connect. The big thing about MCE is the "10 ft." UI. Basically, it's a GUI with big buttons that you can sit ten feet back from and control the media aspects of the PC with a remote (or mouse). But ttupa is correct, you can't put MCE on a Windows domain, but most people aren't running a Windows Domain controller at home anyway....

you can join domains with MCE, you just gotta do a little work to make it work.
-
Xteq X-Setup 6.1 allows any XP Home (MCE included) system join any NT Domain download here and let the fun begin.
-
I stand corrected.
God bless all those people who see road blocks and say "It shouldn't be that way. I'm going to make it work!" -

That's ok, eventually MS or Apple will just steal those intellectual properties and implement them into their "new" operating system.
This will of course be "mandatory" for running the latest programs, and both companies will insist that they pioneered this technology... -

I could have sworn that XP MCE had everything that XP Pro has plus more.
-
MCE to my understanding is a more media oriented version of home that bridges the gap between home and pro.
-
Right Reize, but it does not incorporate some security features. You can check the MS website for the differences. However, apparently you can use 3rd party software to join NT domains with an MCE machine.

Right, not all the ones of Professional, thus a bridge between the two is what I thought.
XP Pro vs. XP Media
