The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Yup. I simply have more freedom on XP, and that's the way I like it. All the windows compatibility, with none of the defects, glitches, DRM, UAC, or other "benefits" of Vista.
    XP just works.

    XP will be around for a while. It's pretty much the best product Microsoft has pushed out in a while, with Office 2003 being second IMO. Of course, comparing it to the competitors, that's a pretty sad statement.

    But hey, this is what happens when you delay the successor so long, make it impossible to run on most of the business machines currently in use (hardly any computers at my work have more than 512MB of memory), and then price it so high.
