I'm about to clean out my buddies computer, and do a clean OEM (the brand he has ) install of XP with SP 3 on it. My only question or concern is that his PC has an AMD processor in it. I've never tinkered with one of them and was wondering if I would run into any troubles if I just treated it like an intel, or is there anything I need to do to make it run?

    Thanks.

Just like you would install an Intel based computer, after Windows itself you install motherboard, GPU and other drivers as needed.

If the motherboard maker provides, install AMD Cool'n'Quiet software/drivers.
    AMD Cool'n'Quiet Technology

That's pretty much the only "special" thing compared to Intel based computer and it isn't necessary, just allows fans to run slower/quieter.
