    But Microsoft had an extremely good luck (not much with Vista SP1) on releasing the Service packs on Tuesdays.

    I have a legitimate copy of SP3-RC2 downloaded from microsoft, not from some torrent site, and i have had no problems... it is working fine for me, but i would suggest that the average user wait a few more days/weeks until MS releases the SP3 update to everyone via the MS update site.

    it would be terrrible to download some release candidate version of ANY software and have it hose your entire hard drive.. i remember back in the Windows 2000 days when one of thier Release Candidates did just that. Thank god for backups.

    What does Vista, or its fanboys, have to do with anything?
    I'm just happy that my preferred OS is getting an update (meaning I won't have to apply 200 updates immediately after installing Windows)

    You will still have to do all of the updates if you don't have a full version of XP SP3, if such a thing even exists. Does anyone know if MS is going to make such a disk available?

    You can slipstream the service pack yourself. Grab NLite, and you'll have a XP disc with SP3 integrated within an hour. :p

    Apart from the 2+ years of support it'll have from now on and until they drop support for it, yes. ;)

    You know, every time I tried to do that with SP2 it always came up with some weird error, but I'd be willing to try it again. I'd much prefer to just have a full install disk though.

    whereas the standalone installer will be available in April.
