Welll, the title says it all. My boot stuff got messed up on my dual boot with Vista and XP on my desktop.

The simple solution would be to put in the Vista disk and click repair, however, when I do this, Vista goes through the green progress bar, gets to the splash screen, and locks up. All I can do is move the mouse, no options come up for install or repair. Same happens with XP disk.

All my hardware has remained unchanged, I did download SP1 for Vista, but it hadn't created any problems for about a week, do I don't think that is a problem.

Specifically, I get something like this:

    File: \Boot\BCD

    0xc000000e

I tried disconnecting all of my HDs to see what happened and I got a new error:

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    0x0000000A (0x00000014 0x000000002, 0x00000001, 0x88835734)

I am at quite a loss about what to do.

    Update:

While I was posting this, I was able to access the repair console. I removed 2GB of RAM because from the errors above I was suspecting RAM errors.

    I'll keep this updated.

I am still interested if anyone has experienced something like this as I am not certain I have fixed the problem yet.

Thanks in advance for the help and for reading this post. :)

    2nd Update:

Still no luck, even after getting into repair, I couldn't do the normal Vista repair and had to manually enter some things into a command prompt which also didn't work.

I am starting to feel like I may need to reinstall Vista, which is somewhat annoying as nothing has changed recently and it seems I should be having any issues.......
