When booting up XP home edition it hang's on the black screen with the XP logo
This Screen:
![]()
For quite a while when compared to a slower notebook.
Both have just had a fresh install of XP today.
Why could this be?
-
How long does it hang for?
-
just over a minute.
And when I say hang the bar is still going around, so it is still loading, but this is just after a re-install.
I have also noticed that CPU usage is very high all of the time, 100% just when performing basic tasks. For example just transferring my photos over from my old HDD to the new one is taking ages (45mins) and slowing everything elsedown a lot.
I've get a Pentium M 735 1.7GHZ with 1Gb RAM, suerley this should be more than enough for these simple tasks? -

Which HDD have you got..??

Think I've found my problem
It's a brand new HDD only fitted this week, and formated properly before installation of windows??
What could be causing this? -
Tried the latest Service Pack..??
Installed all correct drivers (esp. chipset drivers)..??
