    Hey guys. im running vista right now, as of now vista is good but not what i need because it doesnt have good compatablity with my games and very very bad graphics card drivers. it came with the computer and i want to install xp pro.

    Problem;

    I put the XP disk in and the autorun pops up. i choose install and it says "is not compatable with vista"... ok thats fine so i reset with the disk in the drive. i boot from the disk and the setup starts....loads all the files...... then when its done i press contine and then it tells me ive got no hard drives installed.and i cant install. i reurned the computer and got the same model (its a good computer) and the same thing happens........... WHY CANT I INSTALL XP!!??/

    Looks like your XP installation doesn't have SATA drivers to access your HDD. What is the notebook model ? Maybe you can find them under the download section of your notebook's support site. After downloading you''ll have to burn them on to a CD and point to it when asked for 3rd party drivers during the XP installation.

    To install XP back to have to reformat the hard drive. You have to have the actual XP disc and boot from disc drive. You have to configure loading from disc and not from the HD. It will ask you when booting if you want to boot from disc. You don't need SATA driver XP will recognize your HD.

    If you use HP Pavillion DV6320TX , i think i can help you .
    Please restart your computer , while your machine booting , press F10 key to access BIOS program , chose tab " System Configuration " , and in "SATA Native Support " line , your chose Disable . And then saving config and restart your computer with CD Win XP to install .
    Hope this help !
