I'd like to install XP on my external HDD(160GBs).
I've made a 50GB partition and I'm going to use some of the tricks made for the EeePC to get it to boot.
Question is, can I still access my data from other Windows Computers on the other partition?
EDIT: and also, would XP detect my external HDD as a built in HDD to install to?

You should still be able to access data on the other partition without problems. Whether or not XP will install on the external is dependent on whether your BIOS supports USB drives. Do keep in mind that running XP off an external will be significantly slower than having it on an internal disk.
