I had an early version of Vista about a year ago and I absolutely despised it. Resource hog and a bunch of stupid features that I don´t need.

I´m about to go buy a dv5t. Should I immediately format the computer and install XP like I am planning to? Or is it actually worth keeping vista on it... or is there another option I should consider?

I would suggest sticking with Vista *for the simple fact* that its not what it was 1 year ago.. Its come a long way and I must accept I find it to be great (I use Vista Ultimate)..

Is there any specific usage pattern you are looking at? You might want to specify your general usage type so that people can help you better in making a decision :) Good Luck and Cheers.

Edit: Yeah as Bog mentioned below, with the SP1, its been very good. Forgot to mention that.

A year ago Vista was a pain, I would have to say; there were many bugs and the service pack wasn't out. BSOD's caused by poor Nvidia drivers were common.

I would recommend giving Vista another shot.
