still on xp.

I upgraded to Vista a few months ago and I must say I miss xp even though I'm usually the sort of person who is easily impressed. I've had all sorts of minor problems with sound and incompatabilties with things like webDAV, which I used to use all the time. My computer is definitely slower now (I'll have to get more memory) and my hp printer is too 'old' for anything more than a generic driver, so I've lost functionality. All this would be fine if I'd got some real benefits out of Vista but in practice I've yet to see any. Aero is nice but crashes a lot especially when using Java applets. Flip3D is novel but I've stopped using it because alt-tab is still more useful. I liked the thing that turns photos into slideshow movies but I've only used it once. The Windows photo viewer is much slower than the xp version. The sidebar is one of the first things I turned off as I've yet to find a widget that does anything useful. (I know what the time is because I have a watch and my computer clock ain't accurate anyway. I don't have any stocks and shares. And I especially do not need to know what the weather is as I have a very sophisticated piece of technology above my desk which does the job just fine. It's called a 'window' and if it's a nice day I can even open it and feel the breeze. I've not seen a widget that does that yet). The new Windows Media Player is horrible. I was one of the few fans of WM7-10, but WM11 won't even do simple things like add a media file.
I'm going to stick with Vista partly through a bloody-minded 'I paid for it so I'll use it' attitude but mainly because I expect that MS will sort out a lot of issues around it and I don't want to go through the pain of upgrading it later on. I did get rid of the much more-horrendous Office 2007 though and was very happy to see the simple but powerful Office 2003 interface back again. I might yet give in and go back to XP, since it did everything I ever wanted it to do and did it well. -
I know it doesn't make up for the other things but still, it does make Flip3D make more sense with it having a shortcut.. -

yeah the windows key shortcut makes it faster than alt + tabing for me.
use the scroll wheel to flip thru and then let go of tab and walla your there.
if you use the shortcut, it stays on screen and you have to hit enter to go to the new window wich is kinda slow.
I dont know why the mouse button wont work, it just takes you back to your current window instead of moving you to the new one you select. A poor idea imo. -
Vista will rock IN a couple of months, I just tryed and still have to much errors, that can not be denied, like when the windows media is minimized into the tools bar and you are using the image viewer, when the song change the small little window that pop up with the name make the win image viewer go black until it dissapears.
Some games work the same, some faster (opengl) and the most of them a little bit worst, specially the direct 3d ones, but my vista is the 32 bits version, I'm opting for use XP for 32 bits and vista for 64 bits.
That way I'm sure I will be happy with both of them, anyone can give me a hand finding the "install xp and vista in the same pc" thread? can't find it
and also the "make your laptop last" thread if its possible.
and if someone asks I have a clevo D900C so I'm not shot of pc. wish it woul be lighter thought, my shoulder hurts after a couple of hours carring this almos 5kg (including backpack) heavy lap.
