It worked okay for me. But doing so is at your own risk, as you can't recover it except with some backup.

 

It's dated May 2003. I'm using XP pro with SP3, will that make a difference?

 

it worked with my xp installations. it should not "not work" anymore, but maybe with sp3, some new stuff could get deleted that it doesn't.

still, careful reading and thinking about what you do helps (and backup, of course).

 

After I applied the tweaks, programs no longer appear in the list of recently openede programs although the option is is checked.

How to get this back?

 

Could any of these tweaks potentially stop the startup of my graphics driver?

I keep having problems with a Toshiba Satellite A100 where i start the computer and the resolution and colours are fine, and then the next time i start it the resolution is blown right up and the colours are set at lowest. When i try to apply improved settings, nothing happens.

Also in the control panel there is no icon for the intel graphics settings, any ideas?

Well, I just thought I'd mention it because it did throw me off for a few.

 

Hey i was wondering if someone could help me work out some stuff that happened after I went through these tweaks.
So, i'm using a Toshiba mini nb205 netbook, and after editing the registry improve my memory management, no programs will run. I tried to start MS Word 2007 and firefox and foxit reader and powerpoint, but the error they all gave me was 0xc000146 and something about how the application failed to initialize. Also, everything is 10x slower now and loading the control panel takes about half a minute as opposed to a split second before. Maybe its cause I added that registry key to run the XP kernel in the memory, since I only have 1gig.
So maybe i should just go back and undo the changes I made to the registry and everything will be back to normal right?

Any help is appreciated. thanks

 

I too have a Toshiba NB205 netbook. I just added a 2GB memory today but I did most of the tweaking before and it was fine for me. I guess you could always undo the changes and see if you mis did something.

 

Oh hey! I remember reading the thread you started when you were looking to buy it. and after i read it and looked at some other reviews, i decided to go for it too. It's a pretty neat netbook isn't it?

oh yeahh good idea. I just went ahead and reinstalled windows, since today's only the second day i've gotten it so i really didn't have anything on it. thanks for your advice.
