    Hi,

My question is that provided that I don't have a powerful laptop, in order to increase performance, is it better for me to install Xp Pro and leave Vista or not.

Interms of system requirements, Vista is much heavier than XP, even we see in games, the Vista and XP requirements requirements are listed separately.
(Vista requirements being higher than XP)

Under these circumstances, wouldn't it be better to switch to XP rather than Vista in order to get a performance boost? What would be the advantage and disadvantage of not having Vista on my laptop?

I am under the assumption that apart from the eye candy (Aero Glass), there are no comptability issues with XP (as of right now). I don't know about the power saving features.

The question is in reference to laptops, not desktops.

With the system in your signature, the performance in Vista would be about the same as in XP. Some games may not be quite as good, but the gap is slight. I found that both of my laptops are actually faster in day to day tasks with Vista, as it has better management of resources.

Be sure your laptop drivers are compatible with XP when making the switch. Or if they're not, try Acer's website and maybe they have XP drivers.

Your rig would work alright with Vista, meaning pretty smoothly, and Vista doesn't require more power than XP.

if you are having issues with vista, definitely switch.

xp will outperform vista to a varying degree. ideally the gap would be slight in all cases but it depends on the game. some games (generally these are older) just don't work well with vista.

general tasks (except file copying lol- i still chuckle about trying to transfer files) should perform well on both operating systems.
