How does Vista compare to XP (speed-wise) when Vista is running on 2GBs of memory and XP on only one? Anyone know?

I have a duel boot XP home with Vista Ultimate. The XP is faster.

I agree with John B- Some things are significantly streamlined in Vista than XP-but for the most part, I feel like Vista with 2 gigs of RAM is like XP with 1gig of RAM-Just right for most people.

Agreed. On the same note, 2GB on XP is like 4GB on Vista. Sounds too much for some, but just right depending on how you use your computer.

I do have to add that because of Vista's new memory management, I still noticed a performance gain (albeit a small one) when moving from 2GB to 4. Vista sure seems to put that memory to work, which is good.

    Regards,
    Paolo

Just to throw in my two cents...I have both configs and I really feel that the 2gb vista is faster than the 1gb on xp...I don't feel like vista uses up an entire extra gig. Honestly though what i like about vista is how it prefetches...photoshop opens in seconds for me in vista where xp takes me much longer. But there's more to ram than just prefetching...!
