i have an 80gb hard drive that was originally partitioned into 3 different partitions
    C: - 40
    D: - 35
    E: - 5

so i decided to use partition magic and merge all of them together. then after it was done, it said to restart, after the whole mergiing thing it said to restart again, so i did, then after that it wont boot and just hangs, then it beeps for every second. it wont stop beeping untill i turn off the computer.

i also tried to reinstall xp and when it says "press any key to boot from cd rom drive...." then after i press any key, it starts to beep like crazy again

P.S. there is no certain beep type. it just beeps every second untill i turn off the conputer. in guessing the hard drive is corrupt, but how would i fix that?

First I would download and burn a Gparted Disk and Boot from that to view what your partitions look like now.

Second I would try using a Vista/XP (what ever you use) Disc to repair.

What???? Are you sure you download the first link HERE?

Did you try the Windows Disc repair option?

Also does any of these discs detect your HD at all?

Try booting with other Linux Live CDs, e.g. Ubuntu

Look up what the beep code means. Check the motherboard manual, or failing that, note the bios type (AMI/Award/whatever) and google the beep codes for that.

That should give you a hint.
Also, which of the three partitions was Windows installed on initially?
Did partition magic report any errors? Did anything unusual happen during the reboots?

Is the harddrive detected in BIOS?

And yeah, try booting from a Linux LiveCD (or BartPE for a Windows equivalent)
