I'm not a Vista hater yet but I've had a less than pleasing experience so far. I got my XPS 1330 a few days ago and the first thing I did was update the antivirus software. Secondly I did all the Windows updates. Third was to install Firefox. After all that was done I clicked on "Shut Down" and as it was shutting down it BSOD'd on me and then restarted and asked if I wanted to resume windows normally, etc.
Did the same thing a few hours ago except this time it was just sitting there doing nothing. I really don't feel like I'm provoking it so I don't feel this should be happening. I abuse XP regularly and don't get this reaction. I'm wondering if a clean install will do the trick. It does look a little more bloated than I expected it to be brand new...

The first thing you should have done was clean install.

Yeah, I wish I would have had time to start out by doing that. Unfortunately the plan of removing the media direct partition and then installing a triple boot of XP Pro, Vista and Ubuntu was going to take more time than I had. I'm gonna tackle it as soon as I can to get some reliability.
