At some point I had installed Intel XTU and messed around. Thanks to this forum, I'm on other more reputable software now like Throttle Stop.

However I noticed today in C:/Windows/System32/Drivers is a file named "XTUacpidriver.sys" last modified on 10/30/2019 which may have been the date I was experimenting with XTU. The software is not curently installed and no XTU services are running.

Is it safe to DELETE this system driver totally without bricking my OS? The 'ACPI' label is scaring me, even if it's an "old" driver. Is there a way to determine if it is still being used?

    Thanks for any assistance!

So unless there is a driver/software with that name that you can uninstall - you probably should contact intel support and ask about the intel sys file.

I managed to check anything mentioning 'ACPI' in Device Manager and each listing used the standard Intel ACPI driver. I suppose I was not specific, there are/were other Intel ACPI drivers also within the 'Drivers' folder. After ensuring none of them were listing the XTUACPIdriver.sys I deleted it and rebooted.

All working. Seems the XTU program simply leaves behind this driver file even after uninstall. I don't want even a trace of that program! haha
