    Hello,

First great thanks to a big topic on this forum about installing windows XP on an Vista Inspiron 1520 laptop.

My first problem is solved tnx to this topic. ( The HDD problem ).

Now i get a new problem... it starts the windows cd , with the blue screen and at the bottom loading all kind of stuff, then after agreeing with the whole text,i get the error "Setup cannot find any previous versions of windows installed" If i press enter to test again the message changes into "Setup can't read the cd, please insert a windows cd", All i can do is keep pressing enter...

Anyone know what to do about it... I'm so sick of vista...

    Thanks

It sounds like you're doing some sort of repair or replace option. I'm just saying that because otherwise it shouldn't be looking for any previous versions. Make sure you are choosing the correct install option.

    thanks for your reaction!

No i'm picking the option for installing WIN XP, ( ENTER button )
    not the repair/replace (R button)....

Are you sure you have a "full" Windows CD, not some upgrade version that insists on seeing a previously installed version of Windows?

Yes, the Full , legal Windows XP ( WITH SP2 ), now i see that on the disk is "UPGRADE", now i already installed full win xp with this cd...I Gonna try to find a
cd with the normal and install that first! then we will see!

    Thanks
