I know the jump from XP SP 1 to SP 2 was a VERY worthwhile upgrade. I was just prompted via automatic updates to install SP3. Is it worth it?

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Yes.

It's not buggy like SP2 was after SP1a. The only thing I can honestly say is make sure all of your drivers are up-to-date and make a Restore Point just for the hell of it.

But I'm 99.9% sure you won't encounter any issues. It's basically a bunch of hotfixes and security updates bundled together.

Why wouldn't you upgrade to the next service pack?

There's no harm with SP3, it only improves XP even more :). My desktop just went through SP3, smooth upgrade.

I've been using sp3 for 2 weeks now... Can't really tell any difference over sp2, neither slower or faster in my opinion.

I tried installing SP3 and it failed. So I've just been running SP2.. I think I'm going to reformat and slipstream SP3 onto my XP SP2 disc.. we'll see how that works out.

For security alone it is. But for me the RDP change makes it easier when using my personal vista laptops at work where we have a server 2003/XP Pro environment. Basically it helps close gaps and make some of XP networking features closer to or exactly like vista.

I did fresh install with XP SP3 and so far XP runs flawlessly. No issues with it so far, so I give it my thumbs up.

Reading a few posts where some had installation troubles with SP3 from Windows update, I downloaded and installed the standalone from the MS website. No problems at all.
