Does Microsoft have any plan to release SP4 for XP or is SP3 the last Service Pack ever made for XP?

XP SP3 is the last Service Pack XP is ever going to get. There will be updates after SP3 as there has been, but these won't ever be rolled up into a service pack. Sorry.

No, XP will be supported with updates until 2014 IIRC.

One never knows what and when is the end of XP support, regardless of many announcements of dates (and postponement of dates).

SP3 could be the last with updates here and there, or one might see SP4 ... MS alone will decide, after reviewing heats coming from some large customers, not the normal private users.

    cheers ...

Agreed, Win7 will put the final nail in XP's coffin.

Not if it still inherits those annoying security warnings and confusing layout and GUI. XP GUI makes more sense in my opinion. For example: In XP, the icon for uninstalling software is called Add and Remove, while in Vista, it's called Program and Features. And that is just one of many examples that makes XP more desirable. If Win7n can fix that, I would make a switch. Otherwise, I would keep my XP.

Your opinion is not what drives operating system development. Fortunately*.

It's called "Programs and Features" because that window is used for more than just adding and removing programs. It has several different functions. In fact even under XP "Add/Remove Programs" did more than just add and remove programs.

Security warnings? I use Vista, and I have used Vista since it went RTM. The amount of "security warnings" I see in a day is minimal and not disruptive to my work. The only people who whine about UAC are the people who purposely install things that trigger it, and people who click specific Control Panel icons all day ("Programs and Features" doesn't trigger it).

The XP GUI is only familiar because it's so old. XP's interface, inherited from Windows 2000/WinME/Win98/Win95, is an antique and needed a face lift. Vista updated the GUI in a pleasant way, and the layout may have more stuff, but your typical computer user now is ready to use that stuff. Your typical tech-saavy young adult doesn't need a minimal, basic, primitive interface. They can handle lots of buttons and knobs and levers on the screen. They want multi-touch, and graphical representations of data access, and all this other stuff. Heck, there's kids today that were not even alive when XP came out who are actively getting involved with computers, and 9-year olds writing iPhone applications. Do we need to introduce another generation to the Windows 95 interface? I don't think so.

    *- in my opinion

It's very annoying that I got pop up warning everytime I want to modify files in Windows directory or copying files to my external drives. Are you sure you want to do this, are you sure you want to do that or you need permission to do this and that are very common occurrences.

In my experience, changes in Vista is more annoying than anything. One annoying features of Vista, for example, is it automatically refreshes itself every time I add or rename a file in a folder. That's very annoying. I don't like to see the file I just created disappear from my view. I don't like that. I want to be able to see all the files that I add or rename at the bottom and only refresh when I tell it to do so. Vista has too many automatic tasks that it thinks everybody wants. But not everybody wants that. Give us the choice. If user wants automatic features, that's fine but give us the option to disable it if we want it.

If you are constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY modifying your Windows directory, you're not a typical user, and you are why UAC can be disabled. What percentage of Windows users do you feel need to perform the type of extensive c:\windows maintenance you perform? 80%? 20%? 1%? As for external drives, I have an external hard drive, and it *never* pops up a UAC when I access it, read from it, or write to it. I have deleted gigs of stuff from it at a time without a prompt. If it's doing it to you, maybe you have a permission issue. I do know Vista, for very valid reasons, actually cares about the security on portable devices.
I don't know what you're talking about here. When I create files they appear as they should. If you have a folder set to arrange by name or something besides "date modified" then yes your new file will disappear into the directory if you have a lot of entries. If you have it set to arrange by date modified, new stuff just appears at the end. Besides, if you know how a folder is sorting, and you create something that intentionally will disappear into the folder, then you shoud know better. If you're not going to sort by date modified, name your files in a way that makes them show up where you want. zzzzzFILENAME etc.

I prefer my files to be sorted by name, not by date. Besides, sorting by dates won't necessarily solve the problem. For example: if I want to copy a file called license.dat dated Nov 7, 2008. That file will not show up at the top or bottom of the list no matter how I sort it. Changing the file name to something like zzzz is ridiculous. Besides, it's not always possible since in this case, the program won't run unless the file name is license.dat.

If you prefer your files to be sorted by name, then they will be sorted by name. I'm not sure what your complaint is.

My complain is when I copy a file to a directory, I want to know QUICKLY that the file is indeed copied. In XP, all I need to do is to look at the bottom of the list and that file will be there. In Vista, I have to eye ball the file since it is self refresh.
