    Xp installation over Vista

    I never used Vista before & my new labtop came with Vista installed!I want to install XP so i want 2 system installed!

    Can i just install XP over Vista or i have to format my hdd,install XP first and install Vista after that?

    PS:Can i use my original XP cd from my HP labtop at my new Asus labtop?

    If you install XP over Vista, you'll just have XP installed, this isn't likely what you want. What you want to do is google "dual boot XP and Vista", this should bring up enough guides to get you through.

    You may or may not be able to use the CD from your HP (if it's an actual MS copy it will work, otherwise it's an HP modified one and your Asus won't like that. Remember that you still need a key.).

    You can dual-boot XP and Vista. I do it myself. I install Vista first and then use a 10 gig partition to install XP. I doubt if your XP HP CD will work, I think it is tied to the HP. You will probably have to buy a copy of XP as the license is only for one computer. You can google the specific instructions if you have a copy of XP to use.

    Does your notebooke use AHCI? If so then XP wont find your HDD.

    Now i found out that they didnt send me Vista CD,it just came with recovery DVD.Hope i can find out,i'm trying now!
