Anybody ever have this problem? every once in a while I'll be watching videos from youtube, and my pc will just shut down. now i watch videos from other websites and it works fine which is weird. Its not every video on youtube. say i can watch one fine then i go to another and it might shut down, its weird, there really is no trend to it. i already updated my graphic drivers. i don't think its over heating because i can run autocad listen to music and have the web open just fine, but when i watch a single video it shuts down. this isn't my laptop its my desktop (i know its the notebook forums) but i just was wondering if anybody has had this happen. running vista 64 ultimate

    Thanks

It's never happened to me, and i'm pretty sure it's not flash that kills your system. Flash isn't nearly powerful enough. The most it can do (with old versions) is crash your browser. It's probably a virus or some program.

Check your processes. Firefox isn't powerful enough to crash your system either.

i think i did, i just went to adobe and downloaded the ones on the site. but its strange i can watch one youtube video for like 8 minutes then i watch another one and screen just goes black and pc shuts down. when i turn the computer back on i don't even get that message that says "the pc was shut down incorrectly, do you want to start in safe mode" message.

Hmmm. And this only happens when you're watching YouTube videos? Never at other times?

Can you watch FLV videos fine?

You can download YouTube videos in flash format and watch them. There are several apps for doing this, but I do the 1337 method. :D

ok thanks. well i just watched a whole episode of family guy off. www.familyguyx.net (a site that would usually crash my pc) and it didnt crash. maybe it was the fact that i updated the flash. but i cant be positive yet because it only happens randomly. but the fact that it played the whole 24 minute video is good. so hopefully it was just a flash issue. ill post here tomorrow, but i gotta get some cad work done now. thanks guys. rep for all your help pixelot, calvin i cant give you rep now i must have given it you you before but i will add it later.

I have a funny diagnosis to your problem..

When u watch videos u dont move mouse for long time. .. & your comp enters Hbernation mode or maybe it shuts down..as a part of Power Saving feature.

    Check your Power Options.

Let me know if the solution isnt that simple.. :)

I have the same problem. Could you please tell me your processor name and model, and your motherboard's name and model? I wonder if there's a common factor.

    Mine are:
    Processor: Intel Pentium D 805
    Motherboard: Abit SG-81

man this was a while ago i dont even remember what i did i know i updated adobe flash, and un over clocked my processor since then, i was using evrest and was watching my temps increase to the to a point where it just shut down. It must have been the over clocking but it was just weird how i was fine for a year then that problem just started randomly.

but my specs for my desktop which had the problem are

    Processor: AMD Athalon 64 x2
    Mobo: Biostar tforce 4u
    Graphics Card: ati x800
    Ram: 4 gigs
