My log-on page in XP Home states "1 unread email message" beside my profile ....but I don't have any unread messages in my inbox or trash.
I tried re-booting, but it's still there.
Anyone have this problem before and know of a fix?

Weird...I was going to suggest checking the trash, but you did that...no idea.

Download PowerToys and run TweakUI. Under the Login section, there is an option to turn it off
or
>Got to Start
>then Run
>and type regedit

>Look for HKEY_CURRENT_USER
>Expand it (either double click it or the + beside it)
>Expand untill you arrived in
>HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionUnreadMail
>click on the folder with foldername= your email address
>click on MessageCount
>In your case the value is <7>
>Change the value to <0>
>Click OK

Accendo,
Mine does the same thing, but it goes away after a couple days?!?! If you don't do what Overdrive26 says, next time you get mail just be sure to open all the mail and not leave one unread before you log-off. -
THe message went away on its own...disappeared this morning. Thanks for the tips, though. I'll save your instructions, Overdrive, in case it becomes a recurring problem. [
