Battery status, MultiMeter (dual-core), and wireless status. I also use the built-in date and weather ones. Anything beyond 5 or 6 gadgets just clutters things up.

I loved the App launcher since I like a clean desktop. Another was the Shutdown/sleep/restart gadget - good shortcut to shutdown the system.

I also like the Core meter, but I keep getting errors on every other boot-up.

These are the basic (included) ones I use- Stocks, weather, and feed headlines.

Third-party ones I have are Multi Meter and Wireless Network. App Launcher is great but I use the Quick launch bar.

Are you guys/gals noticing any kind of slowdown with all of these gadgets enabled? Just curious, as I've disabled my Sidebar for this reason........

I disabled mine too.. not because of slow down, I just like a clean desktop, tho the same definitely can't be said about the actual desk my monitor sits on.. :D

Vista bootup isnt the fastest in the first place, so didnt really care if the sidebar delayed startup a few seconds.

Interesting. Until I installed ZoneAlarm, the dv6400 with Vista was the fastest I'd ever seen a Windows os boot in years. Puts my XP machine to shame, but I doubt that will last long with continued usage anyway. I'm already getting that annoying "black screen" after boot (before "Welcome"), which lasts several seconds. The dv2000t is doing the same thing, although it takes even longer. :(

I just don't understand Sidebar; I mean, don't most people use their IE and Office apps and games fullscreen? So like, what's the purpose of it if you can't see it?

It's ok if you have a widescreen monitor but if you have a 4:3 ratio one then I guess you'd loose a bit of it's usefulness if you have to autohide it.

Every Zonealarm beyond level 6 has only slowed down my computer. It started freezing my computer in XP at boot, and I'm starting to believe it was responsible for sluggish starts in Vista, too. Use something else if you can help it.

It is a new toy. I actually prefer add-ons in Firefox to Gadgets in Sidebar or Widgets in Opera, but have a few Gadgets active in SideBar right now just to play.

I have the Calendar, the Clock (in Analog of course), Four instances of AccuWeather.com (to show four locations, of course), and the Notes (to have a set of scratchpads handy).

I use Kerio in XP, unfortunately they won't have a Vista-compatible version until sometime after the release of SP8. ;)

Going somewhat back to topic, I preferred the cpu meter gadget offered in the beta builds moreso than the release version. The new one is much harder to read. Either that, or I'm going blind.

    :D

    I am currently using :
    the weather channel gadget
    CPU multimeter gadget
    wireless network gadget
the ever popular app launcher :D
slide show (I have alot of pics on my notebook)

My desktop is clean only thing there is the recycle bin. The only things in my quick launch are firebadger ;) and media player. I also have a network gadget that I add to the sidebar when I am downloading it shows me the upload and download speeds and it does come in handy, usually if I am not downloading anything I remove it from the sidebar.
As for the sidebar slowing startup time I haven't noticed any difference.

I am seeing the same thing what is up with that :( ? Even when I used XP the same "black screen" issue existed.
