    i am just wondering if you can reformat and do a full installation with an upgrade cd? thanks in advance.

    You always could with win95 / 98 / 2000 and probably Xp ( I never tried it ) aslong as you had the full version disc of what you where upgrading from.

    Ie if you were upgrading to windows 2000, during the setup it would want to check the full version disc of win98 for example.

    Basically, no. You have to have a full install cd

    I have XP Home upgrade and every time I have formatted and installed it says it can't find a previous version of Windows and asks for a CD. I have used Win 95 and Win 98 disks and both worked. It checks the disk then goes on with the install.
